The Sanctuary’s Bell Tower

The bells began ringing at 9:00, 12:00, and 18:00. They also ring a quarter of an hour before the start of Mass to invite the faithful to the celebrations.
There is no better proof of the completion of the bell tower restoration, which began last year and has now broken a silence of over 10 years.
Now that the building has been made safe, it is now being made accessible so that visitors can admire the quality of the work and, once they reach the bell chamber, enjoy the spectacular view of the city, the lagoon, and the mainland.
In the meantime, you can sign up for the waiting list to reserve access to the bell tower: simply send an email to eventi@santuariodilucia.it indicating the number of participants.
You will be informed of the start of the reception service, along with the booking and payment details.

The Sanctuary’s bell tower, erected in 1174, was restored in 1355, when the structure of the bell tower was raised. In de’ Barbari’s view of Venice, it appears as we see it today: tower-shaped, with an open cella featuring mullioned windows with round arches and surmounted by an Istrian stone balustrade and a quadrangular tambour with rounded corners and an eight-pitched lead roof.
